Role Responsibilities
  • The Internal Agency Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for evaluating and treating patients in acute, post-acute, and outpatient environments across CoxHealth facilities. The SLP serves patients of all ages as per medical directives. They assist patients in achieving optimal function in communication and swallowing capabilities. The SLP also provides recommendations for subsequent care levels and educates patients and their families.
  • The IA SLP will rotate through various units, hospitals, and outpatient settings as determined by Therapy Services leadership. Schedules will be based on the areas and days of highest demand, including weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
  • Education
    • Required: Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology or Communicative Disorders and Sciences
  • Experience
    • Preferred: Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital or healthcare-related SLP role
  • Skills
    • Strong clinical expertise, interpersonal skills, and organizational abilities are essential.
    • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
    • Demonstrated commitment to professional development through attendance at continuing education workshops and application of new techniques.
    • Excellent communication skills and a positive demeanor are required.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration
    • Required: Active Speech Therapy license in Missouri, CCC or CFY candidate, and BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
