About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Laborer/Field Technician to join our team at MasTec Communications Group. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for providing general labor support for aerial and underground construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct general labor on construction sites, including placement of conduit as directed by Foreman or Supervisor.
  • Be involved in map reading and directions, supporting with trench digging and closing, and moving materials and vehicles as directed.
  • Conduct maintenance services, including cleanup, washing vehicles, and landscaping, according to prescribed safety procedures.
  • Perform all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment.
  • Be involved with vehicle and equipment operations, including towing trailers with flatbed trucks, and conducting aerial/underground work as needed and directed.
  • Troubleshoot RF and Fiber line and equipment issues, construct and repair underground RF and Fiber service, and learn how to read and construct from a design schematic of map.
  • Learn all inventory and equipment required for these projects, and be certified on the use of equipment such as line trucks, bucket trucks, cable reel equipment, saws, and drills.
  • Climb poles with climbing equipment safely, move and relocate RF and Fiber service, and be familiar with NESC (National Electrical Safety Commission) safety guidelines.
Requirements

  • You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality.
  • You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your work.
  • You are looking for long-term projects.
  • You enjoy getting your hands dirty with your team.
  • You have a valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • You can lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
  • You have the ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process.
  • You must pass UI Test (urinalysis).
  • You have the ability to read and understand design schematics and maps.
  • You have climbing certification or related experience.
  • You have practical working experience in overhead construction for both RF and Fiber.
  • You have knowledge of Overhead Bill of Materials.
  • You have City, County, and State clearance code knowledge and related.
  • You have extensive knowledge of Network architecture and design for both RF and Fiber networks.
  • You are Flagger Certified for field work as needed.
  • You have excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal skills.
  • You have the ability to work in a fast-paced high volume work environment.
