Job SummaryThe Equipment Operator plays a critical role in our road, site, and highway construction operations. This union position requires the ability to operate various heavy equipment, including pavers, shuttle buggies, rollers, graders, and rubber tire excavators.
Key Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently to meet project deadlines.
- Assist in maintenance and other physical duties as needed on site.
- Protect yourself and colleagues by wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Follow company and OSHA safety procedures, reporting any issues to the Construction Manager.
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, referring defects or needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisor in person and using two-way radios.
- Meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
- Two years of experience in operating heavy equipment, preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
- Proficient verbal and written English.
- Legal right to work in the U.S.
- Valid driver's license.
This position works indoors and outdoors at times in inclement weather. Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 100 lb. or more. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
