Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently manages patient intake and prepares individuals for examination and treatment.
  • Accurately documents patient information, including visit reasons, medical history, medications, current conditions, and vital signs in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Oversees the selection, setup, and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment for examinations and procedures, ensuring proper sterilization afterward.
  • Administers injections, applies splints and dressings, and assists with basic wound care under the direction of an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or physician.
  • Responsible for drawing and collecting blood samples and specimens, ensuring the highest level of care and comfort for patients during the process.
  • Accurately charts on behalf of clinicians, ensuring all information is documented correctly, utilizing the electronic medical record (EMR) system or manual methods as necessary.
  • Documents new prescriptions and refills appropriately.
  • Completes pre-authorizations for medications and procedures as required.
  • Processes lab and radiology orders in the system, ensuring efficient coordination of patient care.
  • Inputs and finalizes all necessary referrals in the EHR, ensuring effective communication between clinicians and specialists.
  • Conducts chart checks and schedule reviews to enhance scheduling efficiency.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and patient advocacy, ensuring patients are well-informed and guided throughout their visit.
  • Coordinates patient handoffs by gathering all necessary information and adhering to documented workflows.
  • Ensures patient retention and practice success by scheduling follow-up appointments and annual physicals.
  • Maintains a clean and professional work environment.
  • Stocks examination rooms, monitors equipment, and upholds cleanliness standards.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Medical Assistant/BLS/CPR certification is mandatory.
  • At least one year of experience in a medical office setting as a medical assistant is required.
  • Phlebotomy experience with a minimum of one year is essential.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree or substantial coursework in medical assisting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Epic EHR is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in computer skills, including data entry and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with electronic health records.
  • Knowledge of supply management practices.
