Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Podiatrist to join our team. As a Podiatrist, you will provide quality patient care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The incumbent will perform specific duties within their approved scope of practice.

Responsibilities
  • Provide quality patient care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform specific duties within their approved scope of practice.
  • Qualify to perform duties as a podiatrist, have completed an accredited residency and/or possess experience which has qualified the individual to perform general duties and some specialized functions and procedures without supervision.
  • May include attending podiatrists who train physician residents, assigned in facilities with residency training programs, and consultants who are capable of giving authoritative views and opinions on subjects in their field of medicine.
  • Specific duties and responsibilities for each Podiatrist vacancy varies based on the specialty, and will be discussed in more detail with the hiring manager prior upon referral/selection.
Requirements
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Education: Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
  • Residency Training: Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Licensure & Registration: Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
  • English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d).
Work Environment

The work environment for this position is in a healthcare setting, and the incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials. The incumbent must be able to work effectively in stressful situations and able to shift priorities based on patient needs.
