Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager and guided by the policies and procedures of the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, Ambulatory Services, and the Department of Ophthalmology, the Orthoptist will provide patient services under direct or indirect ophthalmologist supervision.

The Orthoptist will see patients under the supervision of the attending pediatric ophthalmologist and will provide patient care and technical support for pediatric ophthalmology patients, adults with binocular vision problems, eye movement disorders, and strabismus, as well as optometry screening clinics.

Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care and technical support for pediatric ophthalmology patients, adults with binocular vision problems, eye movement disorders, and strabismus.
  • See patients under the supervision of the attending pediatric ophthalmologist.
  • Conduct optometry screening clinics.
  • Work collaboratively with the ophthalmology team to provide comprehensive patient care.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in electronic medical record documentation.
  • Two (2) years of experience as an Orthoptist in pediatric ophthalmology and/or adult strabismus clinic.
  • CPR/BLS through AHA.
  • Orthoptist Certification through The American Orthoptic Council within two years of hire and maintained throughout tenure.
