Manufacturing Shift Supervisor

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Shift Supervisor to join our team at Horizon Organic. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading a team of hourly associates to ensure Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and mobilize a team of hourly associates to ensure Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals are met
- Drive accountability through strong leadership and set consistent expectations
- Work cross-functionally with other departments within operations to ensure production requirements
- Promote a positive team atmosphere and champion involvement of all employees
- Regularly evaluate and provide feedback on the performance of hourly associates
- Validate time and attendance through daily and weekly reviews of employee timecards
- Address employee concerns and escalate to next-level leadership as needed
- Administer discipline as required for job performance, attendance, or other violations
- Ensure adherence to plant standards, including GMP, AIB, FDA, Quality, Safety, Finance, and ISO
- Conduct pre-shift meetings with incoming operators to discuss previous shift topics, SQCDMN metrics, and general plant communication
- Study manufacturing production and shipping schedules to identify gaps and risks, collaborating with the manager and peers to balance work schedules
- Ensure departmental compliance with company policies and procedures
- Develop and maintain current departmental SOPs, providing necessary job-specific training as warranted
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department
- Improve and maintain communicated performance standards for the department, managing flexibility to react to breakdowns
- Perform root cause analysis, problem-solving, and follow-up related to operational and safety incidents
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement efforts, including AM, PM management, 5S, DMS, and other initiatives
- Ensure sound communication systems are in place for all employees to participate in continuous improvement
About You:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field)
- 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing/packaging environment, with previous supervisory experience in a food/beverage environment preferred
- Demonstrated continuous improvement and/or lean manufacturing experience
- Quantitative analysis skills, including budgeting and loss analysis
- Familiarity with CIP, HAACP, and AIB (preferred)
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, conflict management, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated planning, communication, and supervisory skills
- Shift flexibility, including weekends and nights
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Resourcefulness and decision-making ability
- Ability to work under pressure and in potentially stressful conditions
- Self-motivated and a self-starter

The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; taste and/or smell, talk, and hear.
- The employee must regularly endure repetitive minimal to moderate lifting of 10 lbs. up to 52 lbs. and occasionally lift to 75 lbs. Requires normal range of hearing and vision (including colors) to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports and results.
