Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to join our team at UROPARTNERS LLC. The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling and pre-authorizing surgeries and specialized procedures, as well as coordinating with surgical facilities and patients to ensure a smooth and efficient process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule office, surgery center, and hospital-based medical procedures for patients with appropriate provider and time/location slot, utilizing appropriate scheduling code.
  • Pre-authorize surgeries through insurance companies and schedule procedures at designated facilities, accurately entering information into the scheduling system.
  • Maintain a surgical log for statistical analysis and provide pre-surgical packets to patients confirming date and pre-operative instructions.
  • Coordinate with surgical facilities for special equipment or personnel needed for surgery and ensure all pre-operative labs are ordered, tracked, and scanned correctly into the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Effectively utilize clinical knowledge to determine if appointments are consistent with diagnosis/indications indicated by the provider and audit the automated phone system daily to ensure call information has been correctly changed.
  • Verify and re-verify scheduling for accuracy before schedules are published and interface with surgery center and hospital staff to ensure a cohesive working relationship in providing patient care services.
  • Treat patients and referring physicians with courtesy and respect, maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to high standards of ethical conduct.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year scheduling experience in a surgery center and/or medical office setting.
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems operations, medical terminology, healthcare coding systems, and clinics functions.
  • Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements, including HIPAA.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines, with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
