We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at First Horizon National Corporation. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and detailed accounting records, reconciling and reviewing general ledger accounts, and providing support for other accounting service areas.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Reporting: Actively support the completion of period-end closing activities and quarterly/yearly reporting.
- Account Reconciliation: Compile, analyze, and reconcile assigned balance sheet general ledger accounts, taking appropriate action to research and clear items on a timely basis.
- Journal Entry Posting: Post general ledger journal entries on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Account Analysis: Perform analytical account review and document monthly and quarterly variances.
- Compliance: Ensure accounting records and schedules are maintained in compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Process Improvement: Assist in the development of new processes and modification of existing processes to meet the needs of the organization's continued growth.
- Special Projects: Participate in special accounting projects, including data input, data retrieval, and analysis, testing, and research.
- Professional Development: Understand and apply US GAAP guidance, conduct all activities in a professional manner that reflects the organization's culture and ethics, and oversee, mentor, and support junior accounting staff.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited university.
- Professional Certifications: CPA or CPA ready preferred.
- Experience: Related accounting experience (1 to 2 years preferred).
- Technical Skills: Intermediate/advanced Excel skills, including extensive knowledge of formulas, Pivot tables, and other analytical tools.
- Soft Skills: Possess strong verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills, demonstrate attention to detail and multi-tasking skills, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
