Position Summary:
Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental is in search of a dedicated Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager who possesses a strong background in safety oversight within the crane and rigging sector. The focus will be on commercial construction, petrochemical, steel, wind energy, and heavy industrial settings. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to operate autonomously on various tasks in a dynamic environment. A bachelor's degree or a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the crane and rigging field, along with certifications such as OSHA 30 and OSHA 500, is preferred. This is a full-time exempt role that offers a comprehensive benefits package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable crane and rigging regulations, codes, and standards.
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations for personnel at branch locations and extensive heavy-industry job sites.
- Implement corporate policies and procedures to guarantee compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations at company facilities and job sites.
- Conduct routine and random safety audits of job sites and facilities to evaluate operations, compliance, and identify potential hazards. Recommend corrective or preventive measures and prepare reports for corporate review.
- Analyze injury and accident reports to identify causal factors and propose follow-up or corrective actions to avert future incidents. Capable of developing site-specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Facilitate regular safety meetings with management and staff.
- Execute established EH&S policies, procedures, and communications.
- Understand DOT compliance and maintain driver files.
- Disseminate information regarding safety matters on a regular basis.
- Commit to personal and professional growth through training and seminars that enhance knowledge in environmental health and safety, crane operations, rigging, forklift operations, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWP).
- Maintain effective communication with the corporate office through regular verbal and written updates.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or 3+ years of experience as a safety manager in crane, rigging, or construction industries, particularly in heavy industrial environments such as petrochemical and steel.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Possession of a valid Transportation Worker Identity Card (TWIC) or the ability to obtain one.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and training capabilities.
- Experience in conducting accident investigations.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
