Job Title: Certified Substitute Nurse

Job Summary:

We are seeking a certified substitute nurse to join our team at Canfield Avenue School. As a substitute nurse, you will provide critical care services to medically fragile students and administer medication as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide critical care services to medically fragile students as assigned
  • Administer medication as required
  • Complete and maintain documentation of first-aid and administration of medication as required
  • Assist with personal hygiene tasks for assigned student(s)
  • Maintain effective communication with medical, nursing, and district personnel
  • Provide nursing care consistent with school nurse certificate
  • Monitor health status of student(s) at offsite locations and in the school building
  • Assist the school bus driver in securing assistive apparatus, such as wheelchairs and harnesses on the vehicle
  • Assist medically fragile students in exiting and entering the vehicle
  • Accompany medically fragile students to and from the vehicle and on offsite excursions as required
  • Perform other assigned tasks as required by administration

Qualifications:

  • New Jersey Department of Education School Nurse Standard Certification
  • Current Nursing License from the State of New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs
