Substitute Nurse Position

Job Summary: In the absence of the regular school nurse, the Substitute Nurse will continue to promote health and safety in the school environment and provide health services to students, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate will assist with the teaching of sound health practices and support the overall well-being of the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide health services to students, faculty, and staff, including first aid and emergency care.
  • Assist with the teaching of health education and promote healthy behaviors among students.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and staff to develop and implement health-related policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of student health services and communicate with parents and guardians as needed.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in school health nursing.

Requirements:

  • Valid New Jersey School Nurse Certificate.
  • Demonstrated expertise in school health nursing practice and emergency procedures.
  • Knowledge of child growth and development, community and family dynamics, current health issues, and wellness education.
  • Knowledge of community health and social services resources and ability to communicate effectively with non-school health professionals and social service agencies.
  • Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
