Join the City of Carson, NV team as a Fire Prevention Inspector 2 and play a critical role in ensuring public safety and preventing fires in our community.
About the RoleThis position is responsible for conducting technical inspections of buildings and properties to ensure compliance with fire prevention codes and regulations. You will investigate fire safety violations, conduct fire investigations, and review construction plans for fire code compliance. Additionally, you will participate in the development of fire safety educational programs and provide public education on fire prevention.
Responsibilities- Conduct inspections of buildings and properties to identify fire hazards and ensure compliance with fire prevention codes and regulations.
- Investigate fire safety violations and conduct fire investigations to determine the cause and origin of fires.
- Review construction plans for fire code compliance and provide feedback to architects and engineers.
- Develop and implement fire safety educational programs for the public and provide public education on fire prevention.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure effective fire prevention and safety measures.
- Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of experience in sworn firefighting, prevention, and inspection work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current certification in CPR, ICC Fire Inspector 2 certification, ICC Fire Plans Examiner Certification, NFA 80 hour Fire Investigator Class/Certification, or equivalent.
- Wildland Fire Investigator certification and Fire Investigation - FI-210 certification.
This position requires working in an inspection/office setting, using standard office equipment, and climbing ladders. You must be able to work in limited visibility spaces and confined areas. The physical demands of this position require sufficient mobility, vision, hearing, and speech to communicate effectively.
