Job Details

Thrive Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our clinical day-school team. As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and support to students with significant emotional and behavioral disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans that cater to the unique needs of each student, aligning with Department of Education regulations and standards.
  • Teach academic courses, utilizing established curriculum and Grade Span Expectations, to ensure students meet their academic goals.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and monitor student Individual Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring alignment with Department of Education regulations.
  • Conduct educational assessments and provide behavioral support, adhering to established behavior management plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and report quarterly, adhering to Thrive standards.
  • Assist with the physical management of students who require additional support, while ensuring documentation meets Department of Education requirements.
  • Engage students in a positive and supportive manner, utilizing reinforcement techniques to promote academic and personal growth.
  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary team meetings and weekly staff meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Attend all required training and meetings, staying up-to-date on agency and department policies and procedures.
  • Participate in safety training programs and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
  • Demonstrate respect and professionalism in all interactions with clients, families, visitors, and colleagues.

Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Competencies:

Bachelor's Degree in Teaching or Education.

Experience working with children who have behavioral or emotional disabilities.

Certifications, Licenses, and Requirements:

Rhode Island Teaching certificate in K-12.

Certification in Special Education preferred.

Valid driver's license and automobile insurance meeting Rhode Island minimum standards, or the ability to obtain necessary transportation.
