Job Summary

West Bay Collaborative is seeking a highly skilled Behavior Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our special education department, you will work closely with educators and staff to develop and implement effective behavioral support systems for students with challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with educators to design and implement behavioral interventions and support plans for students with challenging behaviors.
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor the effectiveness of behavioral programs and make data-driven decisions to improve student outcomes.
  • Communicate regularly with staff and administration to ensure seamless implementation of behavioral support systems.
  • Provide direct support to students with challenging behaviors, including crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Support students in achieving their academic and personal goals, and provide guidance to staff on strategies for promoting positive behavior.
Requirements
  • Certification as a Teaching Assistant from the Rhode Island Department of Education or a related field (Sociology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, etc.) preferred.
  • Relevant work experience and effectiveness in working with students with challenging behaviors.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and emergency procedures in a school environment.
  • Ability to obtain a Chauffeur's license or possess a current one.
  • Training and competency in Crisis Intervention/Mediation preferred.
