Role Summary:

The Nursing Assistant II is responsible for providing essential patient care under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. This role involves:

  • Assisting patients with personal hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs.
  • Delivering routine treatments while ensuring a safe, clean, and organized patient environment.
  • Maintaining the safety and security of patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Upholding patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Adhering to standard precautions and practicing proper hand hygiene.
  • Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Recording vital signs and documenting pertinent patient information accurately.
  • Communicating relevant information and safety concerns regarding patient conditions to the healthcare team.
  • Participating in handoff reports and conducting purposeful hourly rounding.
  • Providing exceptional service and care to patients, families, and team members.
  • Demonstrating competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by Orlando Health standards.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized nursing unit.
  • Handling incoming calls and patient requests efficiently.
  • Transporting items, equipment, and medications throughout the facility as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education/Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of nursing assistant experience within the past five years, or completion of a relevant training program

Licensure/Certification:

Current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification is required.

Experience:

One (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting within the past five years is preferred, although graduates of approved nursing programs may not require prior experience.
