Overview
This position involves working night shifts with a rotating schedule including weekends.

Position Details

LOCATION: Lancaster, PA

HOURS: 36 hours per week, 7:00pm-7:00am, every other weekend, rotating holiday schedule

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Qualified candidates must demonstrate the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to fulfill the following duties:
  • Integrates the mission, vision, and values of Lancaster General Health into patient care planning.
  • Operates as both an independent and collaborative member of the healthcare team as defined in the unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.
  • Conducts patient evaluations, concentrating on physiological, psychological, and cognitive aspects. Assesses progress towards goals and modifies care plans based on identified trends and changes. Gathers and manages comprehensive data relevant to the patient's health status.
  • Interprets assessment data to establish diagnoses or issues. Develops age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care plans.
  • Delivers care competently and coordinates patient care across various disciplines and caregivers.
  • Provides leadership to team members by clearly communicating care standards and supporting team contributions.
  • Exhibits a commitment to our values of privacy, quality, respect, service, and teamwork.
  • Assigns, delegates, and oversees other staff, intervening as necessary to ensure care plans are executed, continuity of care is maintained, and established outcomes are achieved through effective use of resources.
  • Educates patients on healthy practices and treatment options.
  • Continuously improves the quality and effectiveness of nursing practices, utilizing technology as appropriate.
  • Considers safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice when planning and delivering nursing services.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks are considered secondary to the primary responsibilities listed above:
  • Manages rapidly changing situations according to established protocols, coordinating with appropriate health team members and resources, and documenting events.
  • Engages in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing continuity in nurse-patient relationships, reducing redundancies, and seeking innovative solutions.
  • Completes mandatory training that includes age-specific needs, interpersonal skills, and caring behaviors as defined by the unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by adhering to established evidence-based practices and promptly reporting safety issues.
  • Demonstrates pride in work through positive interactions with staff, colleagues, patients, and others.
  • Pursues experiences and learning opportunities to enhance clinical and professional skills and knowledge.
  • Provides supervision, guidance, and mentoring to peers and subordinates to improve the professional practice environment.
  • Participates in the performance evaluation process for peers and subordinates, addressing issues and evaluating performance post-hire.
  • Engages in on-call responsibilities as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current RN licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing.
  • Completion of a Nurse Residency Program or over 15 months of nursing practice.
  • CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be a healthcare provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. For Magnet designated RN positions, a BSN or higher nursing degree is required for incumbents based on previously established parameters; or within two years of placement for those who started after specified date.
  • As outlined in the unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.
