Patient Care Technician

As a Patient Care Technician in the MedSurg department at Boston Medical Center, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting our nursing team. Under the direction of the registered nurse, you will provide direct clinical and support services to patients and their families, utilizing our patient-centered care model and working cooperatively with all healthcare team members to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of delegated patient care interventions, including obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, and assisting with hygiene.
- Contribute to the efficient operation of the MedSurg department, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
- Work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to provide a variety of support services to meet patient, family, and staff needs.
- A high school diploma or GED certificate
- Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification
- Ability to pass clinical competency testing
- Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
- Basic math and computer proficiency
- One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting
- Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
- Completed an approved Patient Care Technician training
- Completed an approved certified medical assistant training
- One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)
