Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Specialist to join our team at Toyota Boshoku America. As a Quality Control Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products and services, identifying and resolving quality issues, and implementing process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement quality documentation and procedures
  • Gather, organize, and analyze data to identify quality issues and trends
  • Determine root cause and implement countermeasures to prevent future quality issues
  • Record and report all end of line defects
  • Assimilate and investigate defect information as needed
  • Record patrol data
  • Inspect quality of service parts before shipping
  • Initiate or revise service inspection standards as needed
  • Correspond daily with the customer
  • Continuously work with Manufacturing on kaizen activities
  • Supplier follow-up activities
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3 to 5 years of Quality Control experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, tooling, quality control methods, and statistical process control (SPC) preferred
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Experience with Toyota launch systems and requirements preferred
  • Previous exposure to a multicultural office environment preferred
Skills and Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of quality audit techniques
  • Basic shop math ability required
  • Understanding of conceptual math required
  • General understanding and working knowledge of product design specifications functions and quality standards of finished product as well as parts/materials used
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand engineering documents such as automotive drawings, technical standards, design specifications, general tolerances, critical characteristics, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Engineering Change Instructions (ECI), Prototype Parts Requests (PPR), and color instructions
  • General understanding of the Toyota Supplier Quality Assurance Manual (SQAM) and Toyota Production System (TPS) is preferred
  • Good understanding of seat, welding, door, carpet, and headliner processes are a plus

  • Ability to maintain on call flexibility to control abnormal conditions
  • Ability to be flexible in a constantly changing production environment
  • Must be able to work a fixed or rotating shift schedule, including daily or weekend overtime
  • Ability to multitask and facilitate effective problem solving and resolution
Language Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Computer/Software
  • Solid working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office
Work Environment/Conditions

Open Office Environment, moderate noise level.

Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.
