Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As an Inpatient Care Specialist, you will provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, working within the nursing process to ensure the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe and effective direct care to an assigned group of patients, incorporating age-specific considerations and individualized care plans.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to implement and document care plans, ensuring adherence to hospital and departmental policies.
  • Participate in orientation and precepting of new personnel, assuming relief charge duties when designated.
  • Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
  • Answer telephones and triage calls, following departmental policy.
  • Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights, documenting and communicating clinical findings.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families, adhering to hospital standards.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, and attending in-services, meetings, and workshops.
Requirements
  • Program Graduate
  • RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days
Working Conditions

Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.

Working in a fast-paced inpatient environment, with potential exposure to chemicals and biohazardous materials requiring personal protective equipment.
