We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Power System Graduate Engineer or Power System Engineer to join our Transmission, Substation, and Distribution (TSD) team at Austin Energy.

Job Summary:

This position involves ensuring the reliability and power quality of our power systems by accessing, analyzing, and interpreting data from protection relays. You will play a crucial part in fault investigations, power quality (PQ) monitoring, and addressing PQ-related issues across our TSD systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and analyze Electromagnetic Field (EMF) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) generated by high-voltage transmission or distribution systems.
  • Collaborate with our Corporate Compliance Program (CCP) and other work groups to ensure compliance with various utility regulatory requirements, including NERC, CIP, PRC, and ERCOT standards.
  • Develop written fault reports, conduct event analyses, create procedures, and deliver technical presentations.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, providing critical support for our power systems.
Requirements:
  • Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering, plus three (3) years experience related to the job.
  • A Master's degree in Engineering may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.
  • Ability to work during emergencies or bad weather if scheduled to work, and in some cases, when not scheduled.
