Currently seeking candidates for two shifts:
1st Shift - 6:00 AM - 11:30 AM, Monday to Friday
2nd Shift - 11:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday
The Vocational Support Specialist is responsible for delivering instruction in both soft and hard vocational competencies to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving their employment objectives. This includes both classroom education and community-based support services. Instruction encompasses mastering job tasks as per employer requirements and developing essential interpersonal skills for workplace success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Offer on-site support and guidance to program participants, showcasing and reinforcing skills to ensure successful integration into specific work environments.
- Deliver educational resources and advice on all aspects of securing and maintaining employment, including accessing community resources, utilizing assistive technology, enhancing interpersonal skills, navigating community mobility, promoting health and wellness, job search strategies, and interview preparation.
- Create task analyses for new employment locations, establishing objectives and methods for skill instruction.
- Monitor and document participant progress and challenges through work observation, completing necessary forms and reports, assessing participant behavior and employment status, and conducting monthly site evaluations.
- Coordinate daily support services at job sites to reduce job loss risks and fulfill contact obligations.
- Facilitate training for Hope enterprises: Hope is in the Details, Me for Me, Hope Cafes, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience or training in working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- Valid driver's license in Illinois.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk for up to 8 hours continuously.
- Capability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 100 pounds using appropriate lifting techniques for individuals with disabilities.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Over 1 year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
