Cath Lab Technologist

Under the general direction of the Cath Lab Manager and direct supervision of the PCC, perform patient examinations and related activities. This includes performing patient exams in accordance with established protocols, assisting clinicians during procedures, circulating in/out of the room to obtain supplies/equipment as needed, performing hemodynamic monitor activities, and maintaining patient records as required.

- Maintain patient records as required.
- Assure that patient clinical history is complete.
- Complete associated paperwork and accession procedures.
- Perform QA/QC procedures for imaging equipment, PACS, and prepare necessary documentation.
- Archive and complete patient examinations.
- Start IVs and/or administer contrast media.
- Remove arterial and/or venous sheaths.
- Maintain and adhere to accepted sterile techniques and provide a clean environment within the examination area.
- Share emergency call as required.
- Demonstrate technical aptitude to perform special procedure exams by executing various radiologic concepts to maximize performance.
- Demonstrate ability to modify technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognize complications/limitations associated with certain procedures.
- Demonstrate ability to assist with all procedures in any needed role, including operation of x-ray equipment, hemodynamic monitoring, and directly assisting physician at scrub table.
- Demonstrate technical aptitude for dealing with and troubleshooting multiple pieces of Cath lab equipment.
- Demonstrate ability to maintain proper sterile techniques for procedures and ensure compliance with infection control procedures.
- Demonstrate ability to perform all quality controls on all imaging equipment as required and ensure all equipment is in safe working order prior to use.
- Demonstrate ability to provide accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures with correct entry of charges at the time service is delivered.
- Promote a positive work environment and contribute to a dynamic, team-focused work unit that collaborates with multi-disciplinary members in achieving optimal department results.
- Demonstrate ability to safely minimize exposure to radiation with dosage adjustment and using shielding and distance.
- Graduate of an approved AMA school of radiologic technology required.
- One or two years in special imaging modalities preferred.
- Licensed with MS Department of Health (MSRT) and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT R.T. (R) Radiography required.
- Basic Life Support (within 30 days of employment required) and Rhythm Strip Interpretation for Techs (within 90 days of employment preferred).
