Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacist - Retail Opportunity

The Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacist - Retail will play a critical role in our Outpatient team at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. This individual will be responsible for evaluating prescribed medications, processing prescriptions, and providing counseling and drug information to patients and physicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate medications for appropriateness, therapeutic efficacy, and potential interactions
  • Process prescriptions through insurance companies and handle DUR rejects and pre-authorizations
  • Perform final checks on prescriptions to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Provide counseling and drug information to patients and physicians
  • Correct and clarify ambiguous or incomplete orders with physicians
  • Inform physicians of non-formulary and restricted items and recommend substitutions
  • Assist in supervising pharmacy technicians and students
  • Maintain current knowledge of policies and procedures through staff meetings and internal communications

Requirements:

  • Current licensure in the State of Pennsylvania
  • Bachelor of Science or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
  • 3+ years of prior retail pharmacy experience
