Role Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) possesses advanced expertise in the physiological, psychological, and therapeutic aspects relevant to patients in an outpatient surgical setting. The RN is accountable for delivering patient care through a structured nursing process that includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring compliance with State Standards, Hospital, and ASC accreditation requirements.
The RN will guide patient education and oversee the activities of support staff while upholding professional nursing standards. Additionally, the RN will mentor new nursing staff and interpret physician orders, administering medications and intravenous therapies in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
The RN will conduct chart audits and collect data for performance improvement initiatives mandated by the hospital to align with State Accreditation Standards or internal quality programs. The RN reports directly to the GI Services Center Director or designated personnel, providing daily task assignments and collaborating with physicians.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nursing program and hold a valid Registered Nurse license in Arkansas. BLS and ACLS certifications are required upon hire or within six months. A minimum of three years of relevant experience is preferred, with knowledge in preoperative and postoperative care for adult and geriatric patients. Proficiency in English is required, and candidates must be able to maintain prolonged periods of sitting and standing. Flexibility in working hours is essential, and candidates must meet the criteria outlined in the staff RN job description.
Experience in medical, surgical, orthopedic, oncology, or renal nursing is advantageous, although new graduates will be considered. BLS certification is mandatory.
