Instrumentation Control Systems Engineer

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's control systems aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of control systems components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure unique and complex requirements of a project's control systems aspects are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard control systems engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
- Participates in the design, development, and modification of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant engineering department procedures, design standards, and guides.
- Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines.
- Coordinates control systems engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
- Prepares conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
- Provides technical assistance to other control systems personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
- Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project control systems requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
Requirements:
- Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
- Works under the direction of more senior engineers/EGS and may have more junior-level engineers/drafters subordinates.
- Responsible to produce high-level and conceptual drawings and documentation within the discipline in accordance with established conceptual design and scope.
- Conducts checking as required.
- Properly interprets and applies codes & standards and customer design requirements, for the preparation of control systems design documents, specifications, material requisitions, and system descriptions related to design tasks.
- The engineer shall champion non-proprietary electronic data interchange and integrate automation technology wherever practical.
- Must express thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and written.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills.
