About the Role

Spectrum's Product and Technology team is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to lead a high-performing video service engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading complex investigations across Charter's video platforms, mentoring junior engineers, and staying up-to-date with new technologies to drive innovation and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a high-performing video service engineering team to deliver innovative customer experiences on the Charter Spectrum TV App, traditional video, and Charter's next-generation products.
  • Investigate and resolve complex video platform issues, evaluating needs, time limitations, and system limitations.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers to develop their skills and expertise.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technological innovations to contribute to the execution of proofs-of-concept for new investigative approaches.
  • Collaborate with leadership and key stakeholders to define and develop technology strategy, technology standards, roadmaps, and practices.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of software engineering/video support experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of IP Video Delivery, platforms, players, and applications.
  • Experience with monitoring technologies (Kibana, OpenSearch, Datadog, Splunk, etc.).
  • Experience with Angular, Micro Frontends, RESTful Web services, GraphQL, JSON, HTML5, JavaScript, Git, continuous integration testing, and Unit Testing.
  • Experience with Java, Spring, Google Guice, JPA/Hibernate, Databases (Relational and NoSQL), RESTful web services, AWS, Micro services, Netflix OSS, Jersey, SOAP web services, Axis, JMS, ESB's, XML, XSD, XSL, JSON, HTML5, JavaScript, Apache open source libraries, Maven, Git, Eclipse/NetBeans/IntelliJ, continuous integration testing, shell scripting, Ruby.
