Position Overview:
The Commercial Credit Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring that loan applications adhere to rigorous quality standards, comply with applicable regulations, and align with organizational policies. Although this position holds lending authority, it is not classified as a production role. The officer is also tasked with managing letters of credit and various other credit administration responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and evaluate commercial, commercial real estate, agricultural, and other loan proposals submitted by loan officers or business lines to ensure thorough underwriting, appropriate structuring, sound administration, effective risk management, compliance with loan policies, and accurate risk assessment.
  • Engage with loan officers, Banking Center Presidents, Senior Lenders, and/or Line of Business Chiefs to address and resolve any issues or concerns identified during the review process prior to loan approval.
  • Support the Chief Credit Officer in the evaluation, modification, interpretation, and implementation of the Loan Policy.
  • Monitor the loan portfolio and analyze market trends that may influence credit quality.
  • Assist with both internal and external annual examinations/audits.
  • Contribute to training initiatives.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of bank products, services, policies, procedures, and relevant regulatory matters related to daily operations, including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act, Privacy Act, Fair Lending Act, Regulation E, etc. Complete mandatory compliance training and adhere to the bank's standards of conduct.
  • Participate in the bank's High-Performance Rewards Connections program by providing referrals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 20 years of experience in lending, credit, loan review, or a combination of these areas, encompassing a broad spectrum of commercial, commercial real estate, and some familiarity with agricultural lending.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of banking regulations and procedures.
  • Highly developed analytical capabilities, including global cash flow analysis.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions swiftly.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong listening abilities.
  • Proficient in general computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for business purposes.
  • Ability to engage in extensive reading and computer usage.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours as required.
