Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Oncology Coordinator to join our team at SSM Health. As a key member of our oncology department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and navigation throughout the continuum of cancer treatment.

Responsibilities
  • Function as a liaison between management staff, administration, physicians, managed care companies, community organizations, and other customers to ensure seamless communication and coordination of care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and advanced practice providers to ensure quality outcomes and promote quality improvement and educational efforts.
  • Compile data, track outcomes, and make recommendations for process improvement to enhance patient care and satisfaction.
  • Provide referrals and support for follow-up care for patients who are uninsured or underinsured, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and services.
  • Utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in all patient encounters to provide individualized care and support.
  • Assist medical providers with processing of diagnostic results, bringing significant values to their attention and ensuring timely and accurate communication.
  • Exhibit knowledge of tests and procedures, their significance, and implementation in patient care, as well as recognize dosages, interactions, side effects, adverse effects, routes of administration of drugs as they apply to individual patients.
  • Use knowledge of medications to instruct patients about medication therapy, establishing working relationships and teaching protocols for patient education, family counseling, and general public information.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner, performing other duties as assigned to ensure the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
  • Three years' registered nurse experience, with a strong background in oncology and patient navigation.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin, or a compact state.
