Orthopedic Care Specialist

The TidalHealth Orthopedic team in Seaford, DE seeks a skilled Nurse Practitioner to lead the innovative PACE Clinic program. The selected candidate will be responsible for pre-operative clearance for knee, hip, and shoulder surgery, enhancing patient engagement, reducing last-minute cancelations, and ensuring patients are well-prepared for surgery.
- A flexible schedule of two eight-hour days and one four-hour day (20 Hours per week)

Compensation for this position ranges from $62,000 to $72,500.
Key Responsibilities- Perform histories and physicals for orthopedic total joint replacement patients for the TidalHealth Nanticoke Orthopedic three-person Surgery team
- Review preoperative blood work to identify concerning results and address accordingly
- Assess required Durable Medical Equipment needs and order as necessary
- Prescribe postoperative medications in advance of scheduled surgery, including multimodal pain plans, antiemetics, DVT prophylaxis, and stool softeners
- Assess physical therapy needs, focusing on pre-hab and postoperative referrals
- Communicate complex patient cases to Case Management and the Inpatient APP team
- Schedule radiation with the Cancer Center when required for heterotopic ossification prevention
- Collaborate with surgeons regarding medically complex patients or those requiring additional optimization
- Implement individualized preoperative order sets tailored to patient needs
- Cross-train to assume the Inpatient APP role
- Masters of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and active NP licensure
- Current license or ability to obtain a Nurse Practitioner license in Delaware
- Previous nursing or advanced practice provider experience in Orthopedics is preferred but not mandatory
- Excellent customer service, clinical, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated strong leadership and exceptional communication skills in collaboration with medical staff and administration
