Point Loma Nazarene University is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Chemistry. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses, advising students, and participating in departmental and university activities.
Key Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses in chemistry, including lecture and laboratory courses, as well as general education and service courses.
- Advise students academically, spiritually, and socially.
- Supervise and mentor students in the university's summer research program.
- Participate in departmental and university activities, including governance and committee work.
- A Ph.D. in Chemistry is required.
- Evidence of a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and research is required.
- Evidence of professional activity in the discipline is preferred.
- Evidence of effectiveness in teaching students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.
- A thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education is required.
- Support for the religious and educational goals of the university and its sponsoring denomination is required.
- A strong commitment to modern, effective, and safe lab practices is required.
- Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement is required.
The selection process will include a review of applications, followed by phone/zoom interviews, dialogue with students and faculty, a class lecture, a research presentation, and interviews with the Academic unit leader, Dean of the College, Provost, and President of the University.
