Role Summary

The Human Resources team at our Davenport facility is in search of a Strategic Human Resources Partner Lead.

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) plays a crucial role in delivering a comprehensive array of transactional and strategic human resource services, encompassing compensation, recruitment, personnel administration, employee training and development, organizational development, employee relations, and change management for the Automotive Finishing or Recycling plant.

As a strategic collaborator, this position aligns business goals with employee and management needs within the supported functional groups. Additionally, this role acts as a consultant to management on various HR-related matters.

An effective HRBP embodies the Novelis Culture Beliefs, serving as an employee advocate and change agent who fosters trust among both managers and employees.

The incumbent will proactively assess and anticipate HR-related requirements, communicating with business management to develop coordinated solutions.

This role will cultivate partnerships across the HR function to provide valuable services to management and employees that align with the organization’s strategic objectives.

This position requires making informed decisions and recommendations that balance employee needs with company objectives.

The decision-making scope is extensive, with numerous variables interacting simultaneously.

Provide guidance to employees on various HR-related issues and scenarios.

Support employees and managers in accurately completing HR processes.

Drive Talent Management initiatives to enhance employee development and engagement across client groups.

Assist in addressing performance-related challenges.

Oversee the labor relations process for the facility's union(s).

Develop and implement positions that effectively support business needs.

Collaborate with the Compensation team to assess job roles and determine appropriate job classifications.

Assist with compensation recommendations for internal employees to ensure internal equity.

Work closely with the Talent Acquisition Center of Excellence to expedite the hiring process with top talent.


Coordinate the onboarding process with the Employee Lifecycle team to ensure all pre-employment steps and new hire documentation are completed, including HRIS data setup and ongoing support for new hires.

Engage with payroll and benefits teams regarding employee status changes (e.g., new hires, transfers, off-cycle pay increases, salary adjustments, relocations, terminations) while maintaining accurate employment records in the Novelis systems.

Enter and manage relevant data in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), including personnel information.

Request and coordinate the generation of routine and ad hoc reports from the HRIS.

Assist department managers with annual processes such as salary planning and performance evaluations.

Plan and coordinate company events.

Support the management of the uniform program.

Conduct safety audits and walks as necessary.

Enter purchase requisitions and manage POs in the current system.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Human Resources, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Five or more years of progressive experience in human resources.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Self-motivated with the ability to achieve results and complete tasks independently.

Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written); capable of connecting with all organizational levels clearly and effectively.

Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks while managing multiple responsibilities without compromising attention to detail.

Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Maintain a high level of integrity and build strong relationships with the workforce.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with HR systems (HRIS, ATS, etc.) is preferred.
