Position Overview:

The role involves serving as a Systems Engineer for the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter Weapons Integration Product Team (IPT), focusing on the integration of stores and the development of related hardware and software. This position is based in a secure environment and requires in-person attendance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, coordinate, and oversee F-35 weapon integration initiatives, acting as the primary contact for all integration activities related to assigned weapon systems.
  2. Ensure compliance with F-35 System Requirement Documents by maintaining oversight of all aircraft and weapon integration activities, guaranteeing that the Joint Services receive effective mission capabilities.
  3. Collaborate with Weapon Program Offices to ensure that aircraft integration activities meet certification standards and align with weapon program timelines.
  4. Participate in Joint Interface Control Working Group (JICWG) meetings, Program Management Reviews (PMR), Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), and IPT status meetings as necessary, serving as the government interface manager for assigned weapon systems.
  5. Coordinate with the Stores Certification IPT on various activities, including wind tunnel tests, ground fit checks, environmental testing, and store separation assessments.
  6. Engage with NAVAIR and Air Force Seek Eagle organizations to ensure comprehensive analysis is conducted to support weapon certification and flight clearances.
  7. Contribute to aircraft software development efforts to ensure proper functionality of weapon systems.
  8. Coordinate and participate in laboratory, ground, and flight testing, reviewing and providing feedback on test plans, procedures, and results.
  9. Support weapon systems analysis as needed for Weapon Delivery Accuracy, Lethality, and Mission Effectiveness.
  10. Assist in planning and estimating for future weapons integration projects.
  11. Provide weekly status updates on integration efforts to Weapons IPT leadership, including weapon roadmaps.
  12. Prepare monthly contributions for F-35 Air Vehicle / Mission Systems (AV/MS) briefings to leadership.

Qualifications:

Due to the sensitive nature of the role, U.S. Citizenship is mandatory, and the ability to obtain and maintain program security clearances is required.

A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related STEM field, coupled with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a Weapon or Aircraft Program Management Office (PMO), is essential.

Applicants should possess at least 5 years of demonstrated experience in integrating airborne weapons systems, including expertise in systems engineering, testing, and/or program management.

A solid understanding of the DoD acquisition lifecycle process and its relevance to assigned weapon systems is necessary.

Knowledge of fighter aircraft weapons practices and policies is expected, with a military tactical weapons background being preferable.

Strong analytical skills to gather and assess various weapons program information, make informed judgments regarding weapons, and effectively communicate recommendations to senior military and government officials are required.

Excellent briefing, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills are essential for success in this role.

Travel Requirements:

Travel is anticipated once per month (potentially twice on occasion), with each trip lasting 3-5 days. Foreign travel is unlikely but possible.

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TEAMS is required.
