Histology Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in preparing and processing tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
Key Responsibilities:- Receive and prepare surgical and autopsy tissue specimens for histological examination.
- Perform standard histological procedures, including embedding, sectioning, staining, and cover slipping.
- Assist pathologists with gross dissection of tissue specimens and prepare chemical reagents and solutions.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including performing quality control and preventive maintenance.
- Participate in training and development of new laboratory procedures and research projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of histotechnology training or an Associate's degree in a related field.
- Registration as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or eligibility for registration.
