InsideHigherEd is seeking a highly qualified Accounting faculty member to join our team. As a tenure-track professor, you will be responsible for teaching a range of courses in the Accounting program, including Principles of Accounting 1 & 2, Intermediate Accounting 1 & 2, and Federal Income Tax 1 for Individuals.
Key Responsibilities- Teach 30 credits of courses per contract year in the Accounting Program and Business discipline
- Design assignments that incorporate students' program of study and connect to the Accounting Program
- Engage students in their learning through active and collaborative learning approaches
- Meet with students outside of class to assist them with being successful college students
- Incorporate culturally relevant pedagogies into the teaching and learning process
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret information
- Demonstrated ability to deliver instruction to diverse student populations, with varied levels of learning and preparation
- Knowledge and use of student engagement strategies that support completion and student success goals
- Demonstrated experience providing feedback students can use to improve their performance
- Maintain an ongoing program of professional development and participate in professional organizations, workshops, seminars, conferences and activities
- Masters in Accounting, or Masters in Related Field with either CPA license or 18 graduate credit hours in Accounting Courses
- CPA license, preferred
- One year of instructional experience that includes teaching courses, conducting and managing learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, providing input into curriculum development, policy and procedure formulation, and evaluation of program effectiveness, preferably at the community college level
- Two years of professional experience in the Accounting field
- Experience in tax preparation, preferred
- Ability to use word processing, basic internet applications, and basic database navigation
- Ability to use an educational enterprise, learning management system such as Brightspace (D2L) to support and facilitate instructional delivery
- Ability to teach in face-to-face, virtual, web, and hybrid formats
