">We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join our team at Stony Brook University. As a member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
">About the Position
">- This position involves working in the operating room assisting with Cardiac Surgery, including CABG and endoscopic vein harvesting, as well as valve surgery and other cardiac procedures.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for taking patient history, performing physical examinations, and making assessments and diagnoses based on this information.
- They will also assist physicians with interventional treatments, respond to incoming phone messages from patients, and make callbacks to patients reporting responses to attending physicians.
- This role includes variable shifts, including on-call Nights, Holidays, and Weekend shifts on a rotating basis.
Key Responsibilities
">- Take patient history and perform physical examinations to make assessments and diagnoses.
- Initiate, review, and revise treatment plans and record and present data in a manner meaningful to the supervising physician.
- Provide patient care services to the medical practice and Critical Care if needed.
- Assist physicians with interventional treatments and respond to incoming phone messages from patients.
- Making referrals to other healthcare providers and/or consulting physicians for further definitive therapy.
- Order and evaluate appropriate non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures.
- Instruct and counsel patients on healthcare, health maintenance, medical problems, treatment plans, nutrition, or other related issues as appropriate.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
">- NYS Physician Assistant license.
- NCCPA certification as a Physician Assistant.
- Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited school of Physician Assistants.
- Experience working as an Operating Room Physician Assistant.
