Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Med Surg team at Mass General Brigham in Everett, MA. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with the healthcare team to achieve efficient patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Nursing Director and Patient Care Team to achieve efficient patient outcomes.
  • Work with patients to achieve efficient and effective personnel and unit management.
  • Responsible for triage for all patients speaking publicly to the health center through urgent care.
  • Implement psycho-social assessment tools as a member of the Primary Care/Behavioral health integration team.
  • Link patients to other members of the team and ensure they receive vital care consistent with the urgency of the presentation.
  • Maintain a tracking tool to assess the prevalence of presentations by individual patients and the population as a whole.
  • Participate in the evaluation of the program's efficiency and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide proficient, conscientious nursing care based on scientific principles and the use of nursing process and a primary nursing model.
  • Provide and maintain a therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  • Articulate the primary nursing role to patients, families, and health team members.
  • Identify, facilitate, and evaluate the outcomes of nursing care for individual patients or groups of patients.
  • Coordinate involvement of patients, families, and health team members in patient care, including patient/family teaching and discharge planning.
  • Document relevant patient information.
  • Communicate the plan of care and other pertinent information to/from other health team members.
  • Help define standards of excellence for patient care; participate in improvement of patient care services in a cost-effective way.
  • Perform specific functions as described in the unit Scope of Service, and within the scope of practice as defined by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Nursing.
  • Provide care appropriate to age group.
  • Provide culturally competent care.
  • Collaborate with other providers and advise nonprofessional nursing personnel in maintaining recognized standards.
  • Perform designated tasks to supervise test results and communicate results to patients.
  • Coordinate medications within the parameters defined by the Department of Nursing.
  • Educate and advise all nursing personnel for whom they are responsible.
  • Participate in orientation of new permanent and temporary staff members.
  • Appropriately apply nursing resources.
  • Assist Nurse Manager with implementing new hospital and departmental policies and procedures to nurses and other health team members.
  • Participate in daily operational activities vital for safe patient/staff environment.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • 3 years experience preferred in ER/community health center urgent care/medical surgical unit as a charge nurse.
  • Experience with pediatric and underserved populations preferred.
  • CPR Certification required.
