Position Summary
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for providing expertise in electrical and instrumentation engineering, focusing on the resolution of maintenance engineering challenges. This role involves collaboration with a diverse team of engineers, supervisors, and skilled workers to ensure the effective maintenance and enhancement of equipment within a chemical processing environment.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Designing, sizing, and specifying electrical, instrumentation, and control systems to energize, indicate, measure, and regulate various aspects of production processes.
  • Establishing design criteria, preparing procurement specifications, evaluating bids, and managing contracts related to electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Planning maintenance repairs and installations for electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Reviewing documents and drawings produced by other engineering and drafting personnel.
  • Initiating procurement processes and coordinating with purchasing, vendors, and inventory management to ensure timely material acquisition.
  • Verifying vendor-supplied drawings and information, ensuring proper integration into project documentation.
  • Conducting equipment checks at vendor sites and providing field support during pre-commissioning and start-up phases.
  • Adhering to company policies and safety regulations, including NFPA 70E and OSHA standards.
  • Assisting supervisors and craftsmen with troubleshooting and repairs to maintain seamless plant operations.
  • Participating in continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence efforts.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical distribution and instrumentation standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Experience with DCS, PLC, and SCADA/HMI control systems, as well as familiarity with databases and relevant software tools.
  • Specific experience in electrical distribution, instrumentation, and control systems within an industrial context.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various engineering disciplines and with operational teams.
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in heavy industrial electrical and instrumentation engineering design, testing, and commissioning.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical generation and distribution systems, as well as instrumentation and control systems.

Physical Requirements
The role may require:
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and climbing.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds, with infrequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision capabilities, including close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment
The work environment may vary, with moderate noise levels in office settings and potential exposure to operational units requiring personal protective equipment (PPE). Occasional travel may be necessary as part of the role.
