CNC HBM Machinist Weekend Role

BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC HBM Machinist to join our team on a weekend shift. As a CNC HBM Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating twin column multi-axis master head machines to perform various machining operations, including contouring, trepanning, milling, drilling, tapping, and boring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with programmers to develop and test run programs, proofread programs, and notify programmers of potential problems.
  • Perform setups and operate machines to achieve precise tolerances and finishes.
  • Assist crane operators with rigging and moving parts to load and unload machines.
  • Clean and lubricate machines, notify supervisors of needed machine maintenance, and clean own work area.
  • Verify identity of materials and jobs in accordance with established procedures.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalence, coupled with at least three years of relevant machining experience.
  • Ability to perform setups, demonstrate knowledge and proper use of precision measuring equipment, and edit or modify programs as necessary.
  • Working knowledge of feeds and speeds for all types of materials and G and M coded commands.
  • Ability to complete process documentation, shop records, and other production and inspection records as required.
  • Must be open and available to working all shifts, pass pre-screening requirements, and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and with written information, stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk and occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use ladders inside and outside of parts being machined.

The employee is occasionally required to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

This position pays $39.433 per hour and is complemented by a generous benefits package. Upon an offer, a relocation package is available for eligible candidates.
