Position Overview

The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for entering prescription orders into the pharmacy management system. This role involves reviewing prescriptions for potential therapeutic issues, contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriate dosing. The pharmacist will engage in discussions with prescribers or their offices for necessary clarifications and document all actions meticulously. Patient counseling regarding medication therapy and providing drug information to healthcare professionals are key responsibilities. Additionally, the pharmacist will verify the accuracy of data entry and the preparation of medications completed by pharmacy technicians while adhering to all federal and state regulations and hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and verify all prescription entries and preparations before dispensing, addressing any concerns regarding dosing, interactions, contraindications, allergies, or missing information.
  • Ensure accurate data entry in compliance with legal and insurance requirements.
  • Compound and dispense medications to patients as needed.
  • Monitor patient medication profiles for any changes to optimize therapeutic outcomes.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Understand and support the treatment variations across different patient age groups.
  • Maintain pharmacist licensure and fulfill continuing education requirements, including annual training as per hospital policies.
  • Supervise the daily activities of pharmacy technicians and perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Manage and maintain adequate inventories of drugs and supplies.
  • Contribute to quality assurance and safety reporting initiatives within the department, ensuring thorough and accurate work that meets all standards.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Master of Science in Pharmacy, or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) is required.

A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in Retail Pharmacy is essential.

Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required.

Additional Information

This position is classified as PRN/As Needed and is not eligible for benefits.
