Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in West Allis, Wisconsin.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to perform general, vascular, and cardiac ultrasound procedures. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, accurately differentiating between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Review patient medical records, obtain necessary clinical information, and compare requisitions to physician orders to ensure exam accuracy.
  • Position patients, select proper transducers, and adjust technical factors to attain high-quality images.
  • Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information, and communicate findings to physicians.
  • Maintain accurate records, enter patient and study information into the radiology information system, and document billing codes.
  • Identify equipment performance issues, communicate with staff, and evaluate new products and equipment for potential use.
Requirements:
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) within 3 months.
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the ARDMS within 3 months.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the ARDMS within 3 months, or Vascular Sonography (VS) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 3 months, or Vascular Specialist (RVS) registration issued by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 3 months.
  • Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by the ARDMS within 18 months, or Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by the CCI within 18 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
Education and Experience:
  • Advanced training beyond High School in Sonography, including completion of an accredited or approved program.
  • No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Competency in general and/or vascular sonographic procedures.
  • Ability to use independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and manage simultaneous assignments.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Clear speech, vision, and hearing.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, as well as blood and body fluids.
