Key Responsibilities
  • Hardware and Software Support: Assist in the distribution, setup, and retrieval of multimedia equipment for classes and events at university facilities and off-campus locations.
  • Computer Imaging and Deployment: Image and deploy computers, install computer hardware and software applications, and schedule and execute routine software updates.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Diagnose and troubleshoot computer hardware and software issues, and document maintenance procedures and history.
  • Script Writing and Documentation: Write scripts in Python, Powershell, and other languages, and manage and update departmental wiki.
  • Inventory Control: Manage and update inventory of department-owned tools and assets.
Requirements
  • Experience: One year of related experience with enterprise systems and network protocols.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of operating systems, mainly Windows and Linux, including update procedures.
  • Scripting Skills: Ability to create scripts in Python, Powershell, and other languages.
  • Customer Service: Customer service-oriented and able to interact with students, faculty, and the general public.
  • Teamwork: Able to work well with other members of staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift forty (40) pounds without mechanical assistance.
Student Disclosure
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Summer Semesters: During the Summer semesters, students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Employment Termination: Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
