Division Chief of Pulmonary-Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Leader

We are seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Division Chief of Pulmonary-Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction and oversight for all aspects of the Division, including academic, research, and clinical programs. Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Division, including planning, policy, operations, and oversight of academic, research, and clinical programs.
- Have financial authority over the state-appropriated budget, extramural research funding, philanthropic funding, and other financial matters for the Division.
- Recruit and retain division faculty, who will have a direct reporting line to the Chief of Pulmonary-Critical Care and Sleep Medicine.
- Collaborate with University of Arizona academic leadership, support units, and clinical partners to advance the Division's mission and goals.
- Engage with external stakeholders and community officials to promote the Division's work and build partnerships.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited institution and eligibility for a University of Arizona academic appointment at the Associate Professor level or higher.
- Board certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine and eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Arizona.
- Greater than 5 years of progressively complex administrative experience in an academic medical center setting.
- Demonstrated track record of national distinction in teaching, clinical care, and research discovery in an academic department of medicine or comparable environment.
- Commitment to patient care, reflecting a service-oriented, team-based philosophy with hospital administration and health professional colleagues from all disciplines, departments, and specialties.
- Additional health profession degree (e.g., PhD, MPH, MS, etc.).
- NIH-funded (as PI or Co-PI) or similar sponsored-research portfolio and evidence of high-impact scientific research, including peer-reviewed publications in leading journals.
- National distinction through service on NIH study section and/or national committee leadership in ATS, ACCP, SCCM, or similar professional societies and editorial boards.
- Experience in the development and successful implementation of new academic (educational, patient care, research) programs and services.
- Demonstrated outstanding leadership in major subspecialty division/section at an academic department of internal medicine.
