Job Description

A Cannon Crewmember plays a vital role in supporting infantry and tank units by operating technologically advanced weapons systems. The job requires handling ammunition, calculating targets, and working with Howitzers and other vehicles.


Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate over wire and radio
  • Identify target locations
  • Operate self-propelled howitzers, ammunition trucks, and other vehicles
  • Participate in reconnaissance operations

Requirements
  • Be between 17–40 years old
  • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED
  • Submit to background and medical screening
  • Receive a passing score on the ASVAB

Training and Development

Job training for a Cannon Crewmember includes 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 6 weeks and four days of Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, OK. This comprehensive training covers skills such as calculating targets manually and electronically, handling ammunition, and operating gun systems.
