Histology Technician Specialist

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team in Brookline, Massachusetts.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine lab functions to produce high-quality histologic preparations for examination.
- Process tissues, including fixation, dehydration, clearing, and impregnation with paraffin wax.
- Embed tissues, ensuring proper orientation and producing 4-micron sections.
- Prepare slides, float sections, collect on glass slides, dry, and stain with routine and special stains.
- Conduct quality control, examining slides with a microscope, ensuring blocks and slides are correct, assembling and distributing slides.
- Modify techniques and apparatus to meet quality standards.
- Prepare specimens using liquid nitrogen and a cryostat microtome, and stain frozen sections.
- Prepare solutions and reagents, maintaining accurate records of blocks and slides, and using LIS system for daily operations.
- Provide off-hours coverage, responsible for pager coverage on a rotating basis.
- Minimum of a high school degree or graduate of an NCCALS-approved school of Histotechnology.
- 5 years of clinical experience, or 4-5 years of histology experience in a research setting, or Histology Specialist A.
- HT, HTL (ASCP) certified or eligible.
