Job Summary

The General Manager is a polished, well-spoken, and well-regarded ambassador who carries a strong vision for their hotel. He or she is charged with responsibility for all aspects of operations for their assigned property; providing support, supervision, and guidance to their management team and front-line associates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that financial performance is optimized, high-quality product and service levels are maintained, and the hotel is operated in compliance with state, federal, and local regulations as well as Company and brand standards.
  • Establish priorities and lead key operational initiatives such as the sales plan and budget development and execution of physical property improvement projects.
  • Provide hands-on leadership to ensure that revenue is maximized while expenses are effectively controlled.
  • Serve as the linchpin for communications with guests and clients, associates, ownership, corporate representatives, brand representatives, and key vendors.

Requirements:

  • At least 6 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 4-year college degree and at least 4 to 5 years of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and at least 5 to 6 years of related experience.
  • Must be proficient in Windows operating systems, Company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying, and resolving the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.
