Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate School Nurse to join our team at Alief ISD. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing healthcare services to our students, promoting their health and well-being, and collaborating with teachers and staff to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with disabilities, including those who are medically fragile.
  • Administer medication to students according to board policy and district procedures, and maintain accurate records.
  • Conduct health assessments, screenings, and acuity assessments to identify and address student health concerns.
  • Provide first aid, CPR, and AED as needed, and participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices.
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to ensure a comprehensive approach to student health and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, and coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies as required.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree from an accredited professional nursing education program, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Valid registered nurse license from the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED).
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience in community health, ambulatory care, school health, or related fields.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent standing, sitting, kneeling, bending, and twisting. The School Nurse may be exposed to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases. The ability to work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress is essential.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $62,000 - $63,000 per year, based on experience. Alief ISD offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
