We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Code Compliance Inspector to join our team at Hernando County, FL. As a key member of our Development Services department, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations in our community.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough inspections of commercial and residential construction projects to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Review and inspect construction plans to ensure they meet building code requirements.
- Investigate complaints and reported violations related to building codes and initiate corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance and advice to builders, contractors, and property owners on building code requirements and compliance.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure effective enforcement of building codes and regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as construction management, architecture, or engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection, construction management, or a related field.
- Standard Certification as Inspector and/or Plans Examiner from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
- Knowledge of state, regional, and national construction codes and their application in field inspections.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints, and specifications efficiently.
- Valid Florida driver's license in good standing.
This position requires frequent travel to construction sites and may involve working in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions.
