Job Title: Senior Food Scientist

At Sovos Brands, we're committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment where talented individuals can thrive. We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Food Scientist to join our Dinners and Sauces R&D team.

Job Summary:

We're looking for a seasoned food scientist with a passion for innovation and a strong background in food product development. As a Senior Food Scientist, you'll be responsible for leading and supporting process development, process optimization, and commercialization projects across our Rao's and Michael Angelo's brands.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead technology development in select technical areas guided by near-term innovation priorities and strategic technology roadmaps.
  • Champion knowledge creation, implementation, and stewardship in these areas.
  • Initiate test plans, develop experimental setups, test execution, and provide data analysis to quantify key process parameters and fundamental mechanisms at bench, pilot, and factory scale.
  • Support the origination of prototypes and the development of a technical approach/risk assessment related to new product and process development, from bench-top to pilot-plant and through to plant-scale.
  • Manage multiple projects, prioritize, and be flexible to rapidly changing business needs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Culinary, Chemical Engineering, or relevant fields.
  • 4+ years of experience in product/process development.
  • Passion for food, new product and process optimization, technical rigor, and continuous learning.
  • Strong grasp of continuous improvement fundamentals.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Food Science or Culinary experience in Italian cuisine, frozen foods, meat and poultry, pasta production, and process, thermally processed sauces.
  • Strong technical communication skills, with a proven record of effectively sharing technical results and implications with less technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated business savvy and ability to maintain both a technical depth and business results mindset.
