Shop Foreman

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shop Foreman to join our team at Walashek Industrial & Marine Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and performing repair and servicing of equipment, as well as directing and evaluating the work of junior technicians.

• Maintain accurate tool and material inventory, and perform vehicle inspections to ensure maintenance is accomplished as required.
• Identify, diagnose, and perform repairs as needed on shop equipment, and train and mentor junior technicians in regard to tools and their use.
• Coordinate work among all trades to ensure resources are allocated according to work schedules and project priorities, and manage and maintain work environment safety.
• Purchase necessary parts to complete repairs, and possess knowledge of repair procedures and basic computer software to place orders.

This role operates in a professional office and shop environment, and on various job sites. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud, and the employee must wear hearing, eye, head protection, and proper PPE when required.

The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, and frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.

• Must have strong organizational skills and a valid driver's license.
• Forklift driver certification is preferred, as is brazing certification.
• Pipefitting and welding knowledge is also required, as is the ability to understand and administer OSHA, ABS Classification guidelines, USCG, NAVSEA, and SOLAS requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, high performance, and a strong team player are essential.
• Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures, and commitment to company values, policies, and procedures, and safety program.
